# Delete tool

> Delete a tool of either kind. It is taken out of the assistant's toolIds, and a native tool is switched off in nativeTools, in the same request.

Deletes a tool. This cannot be undone. In the same request:

* The tool's id is taken out of its assistant's `config.toolIds`, so the assistant stops using it from its next call.
* A native tool is also switched off in the assistant's `config.nativeTools` (`enabled: false`), unless it was already off or another native tool of the same name is left. Otherwise the next save of the assistant would add it back.
* Past calls keep their record of the tool's use.

`204 No Content`, with no body.

## Errors

| Code | Status | When |
| - | - | - |
| `NOT_FOUND` | 404 | No such tool, or it belongs to another workspace: `Tool not found`. |
| `VALIDATION_FAILED` | 422 | `id` is not a UUID. |
